Stress is distraction from life's joys

I discovered that I am a people pleaser at work, which has made me a dedicated employee one any company would be proud to have. However, at the expense of my mental health, recently making me realize that I rarely take time off. I have always justified it as me loving my job and having nothing better to do. Although, now that I am a mother and one working full-time from home. I realize that so long as all my work is complete and no boxes left unchecked, taking a day off during a stressful season is good for the soul. Soaking up time with my little guy while he is so young, are the days I'll remember when I'm old. I can love my job and my son. I can have both career and motherhood, however I can not have the stress of either steal my joy! So I took a mental health day and I went to the zoo with my son, my oldest niece and my great niece. The best part is, mental health days don't always have to be during the week, the weekends count too. So long as you can set boundaries and plan to do something you love, it counts! It fed my soul and reminded me that stress is the distraction from joy. So remember, take time for yourself, try not to stress and remember life is full of joy, you just have to take a day, sometimes, to see it.
