I never thought this day would come as quick as it did. J turned one and there were days during this first year that I thought felt like lifetimes and others that felt like I blinked and months passed. I can no believe we are parents to a TODDLER because apparently kids 1-3 are considered just that (excuse me while I cry).
When we started planning his party months back, we thought it would always be Moana themed, because it was his favorite movie. We watched it every day his first year. However, since we are still in a pandemic and didn't want to pressure people into coming to a party when they may not feel comfortable and when we weren't entirely keen on a party with a large group. We decided to throw a 'Drive-thru' party. While we thought of doing it like the others we've seen on social media but then decided that in the midst of 2020 we would try and use this to bring joy to all that drove through. So in true So-Cal fashion, I came up with the idea to throw him an In-N-Out inspired birthday! Since those that would come would be driving 'In-N-Out' to wish him a happy FIRST birthday!
We originally were going to grill burgers and pass them out. However, once the ball got rolling and I found matching shirts online....things just came together and the decision was made to bless everyone with the In-N-Out truck!
It was such a blessed day for J and our family, one that I would gladly relive on repeat. Over the last year, our family has faced the most devastating of times loosing my brother-in-law. So having days like J's birthday just makes like feel better.
We joked with people asking what his next years birthday will be like and I am happy to report it will be a small pizza party at home with family. But I do have my next babies first birthday already planned ;)
